Garrett Gee is living the idea Dream!

I wonder at times how can someone be living such a perfect life when I heard & got to know Garrett Gee!

To introduce him in short – “He is an entrepreneur who sold his Scan app to Snapchat for $54 Million and is now travelling the world with his wife & two kids”

I wanted to share his inspiring story here with these beautiful visuals that I got from his Instagram account.

Started Scan:

Garrett started Scan while he was a freshman at Brigham Young University together with his 2 other college mates. Scan is an app which is used to connect to real world with the digital universe through mobile scanning technology like QR code, bar codes, beacons & more.

He raised $8 million in funding for Scan, which had 50 million downloads worldwide.

Balancing Scan & Soccer:

He became the caption of BYU soccer team while he was chasing his dream with Scan. For him hard work doesn’t feel like hard work when you love what you do and you understand what you’re working towards.

Shark Tank:

The 20-something dropped out of BYU to develop the Scan app, after receiving funding from Google. Scan was considered so user friendly and popular that it knocked Angry Birds off the App Store top ten list.

Garrett appeared in Shark Tank, he didn’t get the funding but his presence made US believe that he will be big with his idea someday soon.

Fell in love:

Life is meaningful when you find someone with whom you can share it. Jessica was just the right girl for him. He married her and they do everything together. She makes it all worth it & enjoyable.

Sold his company:

He & his co-founders then sold Snap to Snapchat for a reported $54 Millions in 2014. $30 Million in cash and the rest in equity in Snapchat.

Decided to sell his belongings:

Garrett Gee decided to ditch the regular lifestyle and travel the world after selling Scan. So he and his wife decided to sell most of their belongings, including their cars, furniture, TV and extra clothes, and are using money they made to fund their adventures. 

Travelling the world:

Here’s the crazy & most inspiring part. The couple and their two young children, Dorsey and Manilla, call themselves "The Bucket List Family." So far, 25-year-old Garrett and 29-year-old Settie are travelling with their kids to a wide range of exotic spots, such as Turks and Caicos, Thailand, Australia, Tahiti and Hawaii.

Take Away: 

It’s so important to follow your passion & not follow the rules but go with your own instinct. If you believe in something go hard chasing for it. You will meet success & always keep inspiring people around you by being the best form of yourself.

How do you witness miracles?

Well I have been asked many times based on the title of my blog, “How do I witness miracles?”

So here I let out the secret, this post is not to motivate, inspire you but to empower you to see miracles that exists on this lovely planet.

We all live in our own comfort zone:

Job were you have settled for years having less challenges & risk

Letting the days pass by, relaxing & doing the same old routine stuff

Closed friends circle the same old talks & fun

Looking at the issues & problems around, helplessly just talking about it & living with it

Beyond the comfort zone lies the Miracles:

It’s the space where you are learning, experiencing new stuff

The space where problems are actually solved

The space where you will witness your dreams becoming reality

The space where you connect with yourself & are the ambassador for joy & success

In-between the comfort zone & miracles is the uninvited guest list:

Mr F: Fear which says “What if I fail ……”

Mr D: Doubt which says “Can I do it …”

Dream snatchers: That aunty who would say “Why are you doing this…”

Mr. Giving: The society rules which say “Think of other first…”

The green carpet is where Miracles happen & are witnessed.

Witnessing Miracles:

Aware: Be aware of the above uninvited guest list so that you will not be surprised. When they come over learn the tack to send them back so they don’t appear any more in front of you.

Believe:  Believe harder & live for your dreams & for things that you wish to create

Faith: The almighty lord is always around; he is just like the wind. You got to spread your wings & take the leap of faith to fly. He will give you those small hints & when you are connect well with yourself you can see those & act smartly.  

Plan: Don’t plan for failure, plan for the success. Without a plan you can never execute or achieve your dreams.

Fight: Be a fighter, you will not be remembered for giving up or for succeeding. Those who fall, wake up again and still get back in the game are the game changers & are the people who create miracles for themselves & for others to witness.

Selfish: Sacrificing people land up being called fools in today’s society; first learn to receive 

enough than you can be a better giver. The only person you got to listen to is yourself and choose staying committed to your wants, desires & dreams over anything on this earth.

Yes! For me some miracles have just happened without me ever seeking it. I decided very early on just to accept life unconditionally. I never expected it to do anything especially for me, yet it seemed to accomplish far more than I had ever hoped.

World around you changes

Why let yesterday's faults overshadow tomorrow's dreams

A well - known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, " I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first let me do this."

He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked. "who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well, he replied. "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.

Our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feed as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special Don't ever forget it!

People want dreams to come into reality,

But in reality I wished to be @ Coffee with Karan in one of my dreams and yesterday my wish came true.

If I could recollect the dream well, these are the questions Karan asked me and my answers for them:

1. What turns you on in a man?

> Sense of humar, intelligence & the way he treats kids

2. If you were not a Technology Evangelist what would you prefer being?

> Fashion Designer / VJ or a dessert Chef

3. Who’s your woman of substance?

> Sushmitha Sen & SudhaMurthi

4. What’s your aim in life?

> Be an entertaining wife & a gr8 mom of 5 kids

5. What’s your best feature?

> Eyelashes

6. Cheesy pick up line on you?

> "Can you prove me wrong that you don’t get dimple"

7. If you could go back and change one thing in your life what would it be?

> Slap a person whose position held in the society stopped me from doing so few years back.

8. One thing that people don’t know about you?

> I have a beauty spot on my right hand palm

9. Best rumors about you?

> I getting married thrice / Date only Google or Microsoft guys - thanks to my twitter followers

10. What’s your biggest fear?

> Fear of falling in love and being loved
